Board games have been a great way for family and friends to spend some quality time together, away from the TV and other electronic devices. A Game of Thrones (GOT) is based on the popular novel by George R.R. Martin, which has been adapted into a TV series on HBO. It is set in the fictional world of Westeros, the King is dead, and the players are all fighting and scheming to claim the Iron Throne, and rule the world. You can play as any of the characters from the book, and try to bring glory to your family by winning GOT. It can be played by 3-6 players, from ages 13 and above.
You have to deal with four diseases that have broken out in the world, by working together with other specialists to cure the disease, and prevent it from spreading all over the world. This is a truly cooperative game where everyone playing must work together against time, for the sake of everyone in the world, failure to do so, ensures the world’s destruction. It can be played by 2-4 people, ages 13 and above.

This is a popular card game that has been turned into a board game; you play as the monarch of a small kingdom, with the hopes of making your kingdom bigger. The problem with that idea is that there are other monarchs who share the same dream as you, and also want bigger kingdoms, so you are in a race to claim as many unclaimed pieces of land that are available, fight off the other monarchs, in your quest for dominion. Dominion can be played by 2-4 players, ages 12 and above.

This is another game set in medieval times; it comes with the basic game, and expansions like the mages and witches, the traders and builders, the Inn and cathedrals, the gold mines, and more, which give players more to do, making the game more interesting that it already is. Carcassonne can be played by 2-6 players, from ages 13 and above.

This is the top strategy board game in 2016; because people don’t mind playing multiple times. It is a building and trading game, set in the fictional world of Catan, you roll the dice to determine which resources are created, and then trade and sell resources with other players to build your settlements, roads, and cities. It is a very unpredictable game, which is one of the reasons it is so popular. The settlers of Catan can be played with up to six players, from ages 10 and up.
